Radio frequency enclosures

 RF wall and ceiling
Walls and ceiling

The walls and ceiling of the RF enclosure are assembled from individual prefabricated panels that are clamped together on the inside to establish a continuous copper surface in the shape of the scan room. The panels, typically 1 m wide and as high as the desired shield, have a frame of wood selected for its straightness and minimal moisture content. The panel frames are covered with copper foil of very high purity (99.98%). Additional wooden frames are fitted in the panels to accommodate the IMEDCO electrical filters, honeycomb wave-guides, door(s) and window(s).
Once assembled, the panels are positioned approximately 50 mm away from existing or anticipated structural walls to prevent accidental contact with any surface that could potentially ground or short-circuit the shield.
