Floors

The floor is a very critical component of the IMEDCO RF shield. It acts as a bed for the copper shield, insulates electrically from ground, supports the weight of the magnet and provides a base for laying the floor covering. Two layers of tar sheet and fibreboard provide a moisture barrier, ground insulation and a resilient surface for laying the copper shield. The latter is a layer of very pure overlapping copper foil sheets soldered together to form a single uninterrupted copper surface as prescribed by the appropriate standards. This assures long lasting performance and unimpaired ground insulation.
A sub-floor consisting of high-density chipboard with a top layer of masonite fibreboard protects the shielding and provides a base for the floor covering.
